My software does not want to encrypt?

To be able to encrypt, your software need to have the certificate(s) of the recipient(s) in stock.

Usually, you need to have already exchanged signed emails with the recipient. Doing so, your email software (not your browser) automatically stores the recipient certificate (with certain version of Outlook you'll have to store the certificate manually in your adress book).

Warning: With Outlook, since version 2010, numerous users have encountered issues regarding S/MIME. We cannot then recommand it anymore. Except if you use it in a well configured Excahnge environment, see Microsoft Technet. Use rather Thunderbird or Apple Mail (macOS / Ipad / Iphone).
