Install a Netscape Code Signing certificate

To install your Netscape Code Signing certificate in the certificates database:
  1. Open the browser you used to place your certificate request (Netscape, Mozilla or Firefox) with the same user session.
  2. Go to your certificate's status page (follow the link provided in the delivery e-mail)
  3. Click on download the certificate
  4. The browser downloads the certificate and automatically installs it in its certificates registry (it is a transparent operation, you won't see anything).
  5. Make sure your certificate is here by going to (example for Mozilla) Edit / Preferences / Privacy and Security / Certificates / Manage Certificates. In the new window and and the tab Your Certificates you'll find your certificate in the entry Thawte Consulting (Pty) Ltd.
  6. If you need to export it (save it as a file), click the button Backup

To make a backup copy or move your certificate, go to the certificate's manager (see the step 5 above)

Select your certificate and click the button Backup. Name this file (.p12) and provide an encryption password. You'll then get a PKCS 12 file that you can then re-import on any software compatible with this standard.

The better way to use Netscape tools is to import the certificate onto Netscape 4.7. Use he importation function in Certificates to install your .p12 file.

Your certificate is now installed. To learn how to use it, consult the page Use a Netscape Code Signing certificate.
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\xxxxxx.slt
When we used to use Netscape 4.7.x to retrieve the certificate the procedure was the same but the directory was:
C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\default
To retrieve the certificate, log onto the site, 'click on Download the certificate', a popup appears asking for the passphrase of the private key. If everything is OK you'll a cert7.db certificate.
