How to delete a certificate on Windows Server

If you tried to install a p7b certificate file on a sever which didn't have its private key, it is possible that your certificate was imported but isn't usable and that it is blocking any PKCS#12 (.pfx or .p12) certificate file import. To solve this problem, you need to delete the certificate from the MMC and to re-import it with its private key.

1- Launch the MMC

Direct link to launch the certificates' manager:
Click on Start, execute, enter certmgr.mmcthen click OK.

Or use the following instructions:

• Click on Start   then select Run   and type mmc

• Click on the File menu  and select Add/Remove Snap-in  

• Choose Add  , select    in the Standalone Snap-inlist   then click   Add

• Choose   Computer Account then click   Next

• Choose   Local Computerand click on   Finish

• Close the window and click OK in the parent window.

Delete a certificate

• Search your certificate in the tree. It probably is in thePersonnal folder  .
• Right click on your certificat and select Delete  .
• Confirm the suppression.
• You certificate has now been deleted
