Install a token-based certificate using Fortify

This install method is the default and recommended installation (Key Generation option) for all GlobalSign token-based Certificates, including AATL, Code Signing and Qualified Certificates.

For standard code signing: this procedure applies for Safenet etokens 5110 CC (940) or similar tokens supporting 4096 keysize.

Fortify installation

First you'll have to download the Fortify app.

Browsers supported by Fortify:

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari
  • Firefox
  • Chrome

OS supported by Fortify:

  • MAC OS 10.12+
  • Windows 7+
  • Ubuntu 16.04+

Certificate order

During the ordering process, you will need to select the "Using the GlobalSign Fortify application" option.

Certificate installation

After your order has been vetted, and you have your USB token initialized, open the "Certificate Download" E-mail. Click on the "pick-up link" contained in the e-mail to begin the certificate installation process.

Fortify 1

Enter the certificate pick-up password that was sent at the time of ordering and click "Next" to continue.

Fortify 2

A pop-up window for the authorization of code will appear on the "Access Permission" and on "Fortify Authorization". Click "Approve" once both codes match.

Fortify 3

On the Fortify DN Information Page, DN or certificate identity detail information will be displayed. Click "Create" to continue.

Fortify 4

A pop-up window will appear, enter the token password. Click on "Ok". Note: Please wait for a while as it will take a few seconds to process.

Fortify 5

On the "Install Certificate" window, under "Select Provider", select the token that you setup and click "Start" to proceed.

Fortify 6

Once the certificate is successfully installed on the token (or local certificate store), a pop-up confirmation window will appear. Click on "OK".
