Additional delays for the deliverance of Symantec, Thawte and Geotrust certificates in July and August 2012
In the beginning of July, Symantec introduced new procedures governing the issuance of Symantec, Thawte and Geotrust SSL certificates:- End of the DRL (Domain Release Letter)
- End of phone bill
- Obligation to make the Corporate Identifier of the organization appear in the certificate
Combined with a temporary under-staffing issue, the delivery times have sometimes doubled and even treble despite our constant reminders.
Back to normal
Several of those issues have been troubleshot:
- In France only: the Corporate Identifier of the organization is not mandatory anymore. Symantec admitted that the French system is not compatible with the anglo-saxon's one.
- About the phone number: the phone bill stays forbidden but 3-days are enough to get listed on an online directory such as 118 712. You should get registered before placing your certificates' orders in order to avoid issues during the audit.
