Formatting the OI (Organization Identifier) ​​field

The Organization Identifier (OI) field is used in the issuance of certain SSL certificates, including those that comply with the Electronic Identification, Authentication, and Trust Services (eIDAS) standard.

QWAC certificates in particular use this field, the role of which is to uniquely identify an organization.

OI field structure

The Organization Identifier field format follows a strict syntax and contains several required elements.

Different options are available depending on the country of the organization or its legal form.

NTR

The NTR option is based on a national identifier such as the SIRET for France or the Companies House registration number for the United Kingdom. It must have the form "NTRCountryCode-NationalIdentifier".

Example for TBS INTERNET: "NTRGB-007128V"

VAT

The VAT option uses the organization's VAT number and must be of the form "VATCountryCode-VATNumber (without the country code)".

Example for TBS INTERNET: "VATGB-003375413"

LEI

Finally, the LEI option relies on the Legal Entity Identifier. It must have the form "LEIXG-LEINumber".

Example for TBS INTERNET: "LEIXG-984500LA01TC2GO5CA89"
