201001: VeriSign announce the end of unchained products

VeriSign indicates that from July 2010, Thawte products issued by roots (without certification chain) will be replaced by chained products.

It will be the end of SSLv2 protocol compatibility. You will also have to use servers 100% compatible with X509v3 certificates (servers must be configured to present a certification chain). See Server software X509v3-non compatible (chained certificates)

The browsers compatibility won't be impacted.

Certificates issued without certification chain will be working perfectly until their expiration date.
