OpenVPN and strong authentication

OpenVPN does strong authentication via certificates but uses a private authority to do so. To use OpenVPN with certificates issued by a public authority:

  • Specify the client certificate authority string in the parameter ca
  • Use tls-verify to provide a script that is going to check the fields of the displayed certificate
