Apache under Mac OS X
Mac OS X has a graphic interface for the SSL certificate configuration. We advise to use it for it is simpler than the installation via command lines.Apple publishes a documentation about the command lines installation but it does not matches what the graphic interface does. Files are in /private//etc/httpd/ssl... instead of /etc/httpd/ssl...
The private key is stored in /etc/httpd/ssl.key
The /etc/httpd/ssl.crt repertory can not be found by the finder. You have to use a command line.
Copy/paste our cert-example.cer file in the /etc/httpd/ssl.crt repertory and use the web interface (in Server Admin, click on Web > Configure Web Service > Sites and select the appropriate site. Click on Enable SSL > Customized configuration and edit the paths to the files) to edit the file name in the configuration.
Do the same procedure for the certification chain installation.
Important: reboot Apache for the modification to be taken into account.
See Thawte documentation as well:
